GENOCIDE

The Armenians have lost Nagorno-Karabakh. Ethnic cleansing is under way. Azerbaijan’s victory is a devastating defeat for Armenia and represents a victory for Turkey.

Russia regrettably has done nothing to support the Armenians. This is an abandonment of Russia’s role as protector of Christians. Russia’s primary focus has been on resisting an expansionistic NATO.

We now see what happens when the west makes Russia an enemy. Turkey and its allies are now emerging as the major power at the expense of both Russia and the west. The Russians have made a huge mistake in permitting Azerbaijan to defeat Armenia.

Throughout history, Turkey and Russia have been enemies. The Erdogan regime itself shot down a Russian plane over Syria in 2015. Russia has no guarantees that Turkey and Azerbaijan will not turn against a Russia at some point in the future.

I don’t pretend to be an expert on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, but didn’t Armenia proper install a pro-USA Prime Minister in Pashinyan? That has contributed to Armenia’s falling out of favor with the Russians who are trying to do a balancing act between those two nations. I’m not justifying Russia not defending Armenia’s interests more forcefully, but from their perspective they are in a difficult position. I’ve read the installation of Pashinyan is more Western NGO subterfuge, just as was done in Georgia and Ukraine. Best resolution is for the Armenian people to throw Pashinyan out of office and install someone the Russians can trust. They are right next to Russia and many thousands of miles from the USA, that’s the reality.

The Armenian Prime Minister’s pro western orientation contributed for sure.
But the Russians want to be perceived as protectors of Christians. They should have stepped in despite the Armenian Prime Minister.
