Greek Elections

The NIKA party has won ten seats in the Greek elections. This is a good development and a proper voice for dissenting Greeks. The re-election of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is also good. Mitsotakis has his faults but he has stood up to the Turks.

The defeat of Syriza and PASOK is excellent news. Greece has a long way to go to have a truly nationalist government but steps have been taken. In the meantime, Greece must remain vigilant against the Turkish threat. Greece must also remain vigilant against the Americans and NATO who remain pro Turkish.

Greek NIKI Party

There is a new political party in Greece called NIKI, meaning victory. It is led by a Greek Orthodox theologian turned politician Dimitris Natsios. This looks like an interesting party.

The party is new and will not win the coming elections. But it is possible for the party to enter parliament if it can get three percent of the national vote. The party is already being criticized.

Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens has criticized the party. Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetriada has said the church should unite people and not be partisan. Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis has said likewise.

Technically yes, the Church should not be politicized. However, the Greek Churches have demonstrated they are politicized by recognizing the pseudo church in Ukraine at the behest of American officials. The failure of the Greek Churches to condemn the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church demonstrates how the Church has been politicized.

Mitsotakis has no business discussing Orthodoxy considering his government’s failure to recognize American interference in the affairs of the Greek Churches. Archbishop Elpidophoros of America gave a speech to American intelligence agencies criticizing the Russian Church.

Spare us this talk of politicizing Orthodoxy. Here is hoping the NIKI party enters the Greek parliament. The party espouses Greek patriotism and Orthodoxy. Also family values. The value system that gave birth to the Greek War of Independence.

Brawl In California

There was a brawl in Los Angeles involving Armenian and Hispanic parents vs trans activists and Antifa this week. The issue was that the Armenian and Hispanic parents do not want their children learning about transgenderism. The parents were denounced as “fascists”.

Antifa showed up for the brawl. We live in a sick country where far left radicals seem to believe they have the right to indoctrinate other people’s children with sexually explicit material. The bigger problem is the way the media is covering this issue.

Reports refer to the parents as being anti LGBT. The media makes no attempt to comprehend the position of the parents. This lack of empathy by the media and the Democratic Party demonizes ordinary people who simply want their children left alone.

One school teacher insulted the Armenians by diminishing the Armenian Genocide. These are the lunatics who are teaching in schools. What is happening is truly horrifying.

The trans activists have the support of the media and the Democratic Party. Conservatives accurately accuse them of grooming kids. What is happening to America is insane. Voices must be raised to speak to reverse this madness.

The State Of The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese

Earlier this year, a Russian Orthodox player for the Philadelphia Flyers was widely condemned by ESPN and various pro LGBT groups for refusing to wear the rainbow on his uniform. In the past, various Evangelical and other Christians in professional sports have refused to display the rainbow. The first commandment teaches us to have no gods except the true God who for Christians is the holy Trinity.

We are commanded to reject idols or to make offerings to pagan gods. Church history is full of martyrs and saints who confessed their faith in Christ at the expense of their lives. The rainbow has now become an idol where Christians are being told to wear it, even if it conflicts with their faith. This is not only a violation of religious freedom, but a violation of the right to freedom of conscience.

Much is happening as the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese is preparing to serve a liturgy in an Episcipal Cathedral on June 10. The Episcopalians were woke long before there was any such thing as woke. Gay marriage and transgenderism were embraced by this sect decades ago. The Episcopalians have not been Christians for a long time.

Yet, Archbishop Elpidophoros will serve the liturgy in an Episcopalian Cathedral which are full of rainbow flags, oblivious to the growing Anti Christian hatred being espoused by the LGBT movement. It should be stated that the Archbishop and the Patriarch have refused to condemn the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. But the Archbishop will serve liturgy in a “church” that is in effect a pagan temple.

Meanwhile, the LA Dodgers have embraced an infamous group of drag queens that openly desecrate the cross and have profaned Christ and the Mother of God in unspeakable ways. They will honor them on June 16. The political establishment in California has embraced this notorious group. No one on the political left had condemned the anti Catholic group or the blasphemous activities it engages in.

This says everything about the Archbishop and the pathetic state of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese. Those who serve at the Atchdiocese in New York are out of touch with reality and with their own faithful. No wonder the faithful are leaving. The Archdiocese is complicit in scandal after scandal and is completely indifferent to the moral crisis in the country and society in which they live.

The LGBT movement has established an influence over the schools, the medical profession, and many politicians including the President. Teenage girls have been persuaded they are “trans”. They have gotten mastectomies and others have has hysterectomies. This is known because conservative media such as National Review and others such as journalist Abigail Shrier have reported on the horrific crimes being perpetrated against children.

What does Christ tell us to do?Are Christians to join the new pagans as the Archbishop seems to be doing? The LGBT movement is gaining strength and its hostility to ALL Christians is unmistakable. Tragically, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese is morally and spiritually bankrupt at a time when the Church must raise its voice.

Today, the Roman Catholics and the Evangelicals. Does anyone think Orthodox Christians won’t come under similar attack? In 1965, Archbishop Iakovos stuck his neck out and went to Alabama to March with Martin Luther King. Contrast the two Archbishops.

This blogger had no desire to get involved in the cultural wars. But considering the rising hostility to the Christian faith and the grooming and mutilation of children, protests must be made.

Unfortunately, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese will not lead. Archbishop Elpidophoros must be deposed. That is a necessary first step in preparing for the tough challenges ahead.

Letter To NPR

The following is in response to the June 1 news report, “Russian involvement on Mount Athos etc” (June 1). As a Greek American, I wish to dispute the anti Russian allegations in the News Report. First, Mount Athos is a holy mountain dedication of a life of prayer, fasting, and asceticism”. It is a holy place that should not be dragged into politics.

The Russians have had a presence on Mount Athos for one thousand years. It is racist and discriminatory to suggest that the Russians concern themselves withthe holy mountain for any reasons that are not religious. Mount Athos has a Serbian and a Bulgarian Monastery as well as a Russian Monastery. Furthermore, there are Sketes which include monks from Georgia and Rumania as well. There are also converts to Orthodoxy who are American, Australian, and European who live on the holy Mountain in pursuit of spiritual pursuits.

Perhaps National Public Radio can do reports on the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (distinct from the western established “Orthodox Church of Ukraine)”. Ukrainian Orthodox Christians under the canonical Church in Ukraine are being evicted from their Monasteries and Churches, and are being violently persecuted merely because they are under the spiritual (and NOT political) leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church. The anti Russian clerics cited in this news report have conflicts of interest.

They are associated with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople who started an inter Orthodox war by recognizing an illegitimate and pseudo Church in Ukraine for the purpose of overthrowing Orthodox canon law and expanding his own authority. Orthodox Christians do not appreciate the politicization of our holy Church which has been carried out by the Americans, and not the the Russians. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo travelled to Greece in 2019 to ask the cowardly Archbishop of Athens to recognize the illegitimate “church” in Ukraine.

Pompeo had no business making that request and the bishops of the Church of Greece had no business recognizing a fake “church” which does not fulfill the criteria under Orthodox canon law to be considered a real Church. The real scandal in Eastern Orthodoxy has to do with the American government’s blatant interference in the spiritual life of Orthodoxy in pursuit of their geo strategic aims.

This news report about the Russians on Mount Athos is dishonest propaganda.
